However, reflections on the planning of educational actions, its possibilities and results are scarce, especially in the sports environment, considered a scenario of vulnerability for adopting inappropriate food practices. The objectives were: to describe and analyze the effect of a Food and Nutrition Education project developed with a rhythmic gymnastics team; to verify that the strategies adopted to the Arch of Maguerez, chosen as a theoretical reference and to identify the perceptions of the athletes and technical commission on the effectiveness of the project. Participants and methods: The study was divided into 3 stages: 1) Diagnostic evaluation of 14 rhythmic gymnasts: anthropometric evaluation and body composition; knowledge assessment nutritional; dietary assessment; behavior change intention stage to feed; satisfaction with body image; interviews; 2) Elaboration and application of the project from the diagnostic stage for eight months; 3) Reapplication of the instruments used in the first stage, including interview with the technical committee. Results: The mean age of the athletes was 18.1 ± 2.3 (min = 15.0; max = 22.0) with 9.4 ± 3.5 (min = 2.0, max = 14.0) years of sports practice. After EAN actions, it was possible to observe an increase in the percentage of nutritional knowledge questionnaire (p = 0.012); increased milk intake (p = 0.01) and fish (p = 0.02); reduction of frying intake (p = 0.02) and meat fatty acids (p = 0.03). EAN actions were able to influence positively choices, arousing motivation and interest in worked. Athletes and coaches report specific changes in diet related to the themes worked out during the EAN project. In addition, athletes were able to identify that the project planning was based on the diagnosis, and the themes are related to the reality that live. The strategies used in the activities were also adequate, facilitating the attention and the learning of the athletes.
