- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Aleitamento materno em crianças indígenas de dois municípios da Amazônia Ocidental Brasileira(Univ Fed Sao Paulo, Dept Enfermagen, 2016) da Silva Maciel, Vanizia Barboza; Martins Silva, Romeu Paulo; Saudo, Adriana [UNIFESP]; Vieira Abuchaim, Erika de Sa [UNIFESP]; Freitas de Vilhena Abrao, Ana Cristina [UNIFESP]Objective: To analyze breastfeeding practice among indigenous children aged between zero and two years and the factors associated with ablactation. Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with 94 indigenous children and 91 indigenous women. Data were collected in households by applying an instrument specifically developed for the study. Logistic regression was used for the analysis. Results: A total of 60.6% of the children were breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding was present in 35% of the children aged under six months. The only association of early ablactation with the variables was the ethnic group, in which the chance of early ablactation among the Poyanawa, Nawa, and Nukini ethnic groups was 3.7 times higher than the Katukinas. Conclusion: The prevalence indices of breastfeeding is below the recommendations of the WHO. Only the variable ethnic group was found to be associated with early ablactation. These data highlight the need to implement programs to promote breastfeeding among indigenous people.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Educação em saúde: repercussões no crescimento e desenvolvimento neuropsicomotor do recém-nascido(Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem, 2012-02-01) Marcacine, Karla Oliveira; Orati, Priscila Lopes; Abrão, Ana Cristina Freitas de Vilhena [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)The postpartum period is characterized by great physical and emotional changes, when parturients and families experience ambivalent and conflicting feelings and emotions, especially with the arrival of the baby, requiring the need of professional orientation and support. Having it in mind, it was searched the available literature evidence about health education, coming from a nursing team and directed to parturients and families, dealing with the newly born care and regarding its appropriate neuropsychomotor growth and development. It is clear the need of motivating the mother and the family to participate in the development of child care, increasing the success of health action results, once it provides autonomy and trust to this nucleus towards its acts, especially to the maternal role.

- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Hospital Amigo da Criança: prevalência de aleitamento materno exclusivo aos seis meses e fatores intervenientes(Universidade de São Paulo, Escola de Enfermagem, 2013-12-01) Figueredo, Sonia Fontes; Mattar, Maria Jose Guardia; Abrão, Ana Cristina Freitas de Vilhena [UNIFESP]; Hospital Maternidade Leonor Mendes de Barros; Ministerio da Saude; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)The objective of this research was to identify the pattern of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) in the first 6 months of infants born in a Baby-Friendly Hospital and the factors that contribute to early weaning. This was a prospective cohort study with 261 mothers and children. The data were analyzed via the construction of a Kaplan-Meier survival curve, and the log-rank test was used for the univariate analysis. A multivariate analysis was performed using the Cox proportional-hazards regression model. During the 6 months, the percentage of mothers who practiced EBF for 30, 90, 120, 150 and 180 days was 75%, 52%, 33%, 19% and 5.7%, respectively. In the multivariate analysis, the variables that conferred a risk for early weaning were the hospital and the occurrence of a follow-up visit due to mammary complication, improper positioning and the association of both of these factors. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative favored EBF.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Meanings attributed to fatherhood by adolescents(Escola Paulista de Enfermagem, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2014-01-01) Sampaio, Karla Jimena Araújo de Jesus; Villela, Wilza Vieira [UNIFESP]; Oliveira, Eleonora Menicucci de [UNIFESP]; Universidade Regional do Cariri; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)OBJECTIVE:To understand how adolescents perceive the experience and what meanings they attribute to fatherhood.METHODS:Research of a qualitative method, using interviews of 25 young people who had become fathers for the first time. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, taped and transcribed in their entirety. Data analysis occurred using an initial and then an exhaustive reading of the material, synthesis of the results obtained, and identification of implicit content.RESULTS:The analysis and interpretation of this material allowed us to identify three thematic categories: the role of the young father; gains and losses with fatherhood, and solutions adopted during the experienced difficulties. It was evident that the exercise of fatherhood contributed to the assumption of masculinity, to play the role of guardian of the home and provider for the family.CONCLUSION:Fatherhood was seen as a positive experience that transformed teenagers into adults.

METHODS: Observational, cross-sectional and retrospective study, with secondary data obtained from 192 records of the institutions involved. The study variables were the practices selected for normal birth: the use of oxytocin, the type of breaking the amniotic membranes, the performance of episiotomy or perineotomy and, the time of maternal and neonatal stay. It was developed a computerized tool for data collection, based on the study's variables. The data were processed by multivariate statistical analysis. RESULTS: In the intra-hospital birth center, the most frequently used interventions were related to: the use of oxytocin, artificial rupture of amniotic membranes and maternal and neonatal length of staying larger than 48 hours, postpartum. In the extra-hospital birth center had a higher frequency of parturients with: no tearing of perineum after delivery, membrane rupture spontaneously and maternal and neonatal length of staying less than 48 hours, postpartum. The maternal and neonatal outcomes showed no complications related to utilized practices. CONCLUSION: The birth practices differ little, when comparing the two types of Normal Birth Centers; both followed the recommendations of the World Health Organization and implemented the interventions only in specific cases.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Validação para língua portuguesa do instrumento de avaliação do aleitamento materno LATCH(Univ Fed Sao Paulo, Dept Enfermagen, 2017) da Conceicao, Cristiane Maria; Coca, Kelly Pereira [UNIFESP]; da Silva Alves, Maria dos Remedios; Almeida, Fabiane de AmorimObjective: To translate into Portuguese and validate the LATCH breastfeeding assessment scale. Methods: This was a methodological study through translation and validation of the instrument. The following steps were followed: translation, back-translation, committee of judges, pre-test and validation. The validation process includes the analysis of 160 women in breastfeeding in the first postpartum days during hospitalization. Results: The results indicate that the LATCH instrument translated into Portuguese can be used by nurses for breastfeeding assessment, enabling the early detection of possible problems presented by the mother-baby binomial during breastfeeding. Conclusion: The study fulfilled the objective of adapting the LATCH breastfeeding assessment instrument to the Portuguese language and verifying its psychometric properties. The LATCH instrument validity measures what it was designed to do and is applicable in clinical practice.
