Nursing, with the largest contingent of hospital staff, is more prone to conflict and so it must be recognized and managed appropriately. Conflict resolution strategies should be used for this management. Objectives: Adapt and apply the Intragroup Conflict Scale (ICS); Build, validate and apply the Conflict Resolution Strategy Scale (CRSS); To identify the conflicts experienced by nursing professionals in hospital admission units and to verify the strategies used by nursing professionals to solve them. Method: The methodological study was developed from the Adapted Intragroup Conflict Scale (AICS) and built the Conflict Resolution Strategies Scale and validated by experts. The application of the questionnaires, part exploratory and quantitative approach was carried out in four hospitalization units of a philanthropic hospital in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. The period of data collection was from July to September 2015. The sample was 191 people, where 54 were nurses and 137 were nursing auxiliaries and technicians. Three instruments were used: a questionnaire containing sociodemographic data and the two scales. It was adapted to the Intragroup Conflict Scale, built on the Scale of Conflict Resolution Strategies, and validated with 11 specialists through Likert scale. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee and all participants signed the Informed Consent Term. Results: The majority of the participants were female (133 = 69.6%), older than 30 years (158 = 82.7%), 6 to 10 years of profession (76 = 39.8%) , with 1 to 5 years of work in the institution (79 = 58.3%), 1 to 5 years of staff (82 = 66.7%) and no other employment relationship (162 = 84.8%). The task conflict among nurses was superior to that of nursing technicians. Cronbach's Alpha of the Conflict Resolution Strategy Scale was 0.746. The strategies more used were competition and collaboration, highlighting the collaboration (p<0,001). Conclusion: For this study, the instrument for the collection of sociodemographic and training data and the Conflict Resolution Strategy Scale were created. The Conflict Intra Group Scale was adapted. Nursing professionals presented greater conflict of tasks than relationships (p <0.001). The mean of the task conflict in nurses was superior to that of the technicians, and it was not possible to identify differences in the averages of the auxiliary with the other categories. The strategies used were competition e collaboration.
