    De Virgulino a Lampião: o Cangaço como uma forma de luta e resistência

    The objective of this paper is to understand how the social, economic and cultural rela-tions in northeastern Brazil were more precisely in the northeastern sertão, between the years of 1917 and 1926, from the figure of the character Virgulino Ferreira da Silva who, due to the circumstances, Entered the Movement of the Cangaço, and thus received the nickname of Lampião. We will also analyze, from Cordel's Literature, and the available sources, the construc-tion that is made of this character who, through his beloved figure, hated, feared and no less respected, in a space where constructions of archetypes and stereotypes were fundamental For the maintenance of the interests and privileges of landowners, colonels and politicians in the region. We will try to understand, through the discourses adopted, the relations established be-tween these discourses and the perpetuation of drought, hunger, poverty and violence, in a region that is neglected by the State and its Institutions, And can eradicate those evils that seem to insist on being part of it.
