METHODS: This is a quality research study based on the social representation theory. Data were collected through interviews with 7 nurses and 11 nursing assistants using a semistructured questionnaire and two analyses of daily situations. RESULTS: Testimonials revealed that nursing professionals perceived sexuality as sexual orientation, sexual role, or a manifestation disorder. Discipline and surveillance were the techniques used to control sexual behavior in the hospital environment. CONCLUSION: Nursing professionals perceived the sexuality of people with mental disorders according to their own values, taboos, and prejudices, which indicated unpreparedness of nursing professionals concerning the sexuality of individuals receiving care for mental illnesses.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosValidação do instrumento Ureteral Stent Symptom Questionnaire para uso no Brasil(Univ Fed Sao Paulo, Dept Enfermagen, 2016) Santos, Renan Castaldeli Marques [UNIFESP]; Moreira, Rita Simone Lopes [UNIFESP]; Roza, Bartira de Aguiar [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Objective: To translate the Ureteral Stent Symptom Questionnaire, developed in English in the United Kingdom, into Brazilian Portuguese, to adapt and validate it to the Brazilian reality through analysis of demographic characteristics, instrument reliability, inter-item correlation, and exploration for sensitivity to change. Methods: A methodological study performed according to instrument validation criteria recommended in the international literature, as follows: initial translation, synthesis of translation, committee of expert judges, back translation, and pretest of the final version. Results: The Portuguese version had moderate to high internal consistency in all domains. The highest rates of inter-item correlation were in the domains of pain and urinary symptoms. Conclusion: The results showed that the USSQ-Brazil version is a valid and reliable instrument to measure the impact of various symptoms related to the ureteral stent in Brazilian patients.

METHODS: This is a participatory research carried out with 30 professionals from six Family Health teams. Data production was the result of eight workshop-meetings. The technique of thematic content was used for data analysis. RESULTS: User embracement is potentialized by qualified hearing and the elaboration of an assistance plan shared with users also respecting their decisions and their family context. It is limited by the understanding that women should report the violence to enable the proposition of an intervention. It is recommended to resume concepts and practices of gender as well as human and social rights to strengthen supportive actions. CONCLUSION: Home visits and the bonding between professionals and users are considered potentializers of user embracement and the limitation is the difficulty of obtaining the report of women who suffered violence and engage them in a care project.
