- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Knowledge and attitudes of nurses towards alcohol and related problems: the impact of an educational intervention(Univ Sao Paolo, 2013-10-01) Soares, Janaina; Vargas, Divane de; Oliveira de Souza Formigoni, Maria Lucia [UNIFESP]; Universidade de São Paulo (USP); Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); SUPERA CourseAn exploratory study of quasi-experimental approach that aimed to verify the impact of an educational intervention on attitudes and knowledge of nurses towards alcohol use and associated problems. the sample included 185 nurses, divided into two groups: 84 submitted to a training course and formed the experimental group. Data were collected through a knowledge survey and an attitude scale. the attitudes of the participants of both groups were positive. There were no significant differences between groups in relation to knowledge. the strongest predictors of positive attitudes were possessed preparation to act with chemical dependents (OR = 2.18), have received increased workload during graduation on the theme, alcohol and other drugs (OR = 1.70), and completed graduate school (OR = 2.59). the educational intervention had a positive impact on the attitudes of nurses towards alcoholics, work and interpersonal relationships with such clientele.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Meanings attributed to fatherhood by adolescents(Escola Paulista de Enfermagem, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2014-01-01) Sampaio, Karla Jimena Araújo de Jesus; Villela, Wilza Vieira [UNIFESP]; Oliveira, Eleonora Menicucci de [UNIFESP]; Universidade Regional do Cariri; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)OBJECTIVE:To understand how adolescents perceive the experience and what meanings they attribute to fatherhood.METHODS:Research of a qualitative method, using interviews of 25 young people who had become fathers for the first time. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, taped and transcribed in their entirety. Data analysis occurred using an initial and then an exhaustive reading of the material, synthesis of the results obtained, and identification of implicit content.RESULTS:The analysis and interpretation of this material allowed us to identify three thematic categories: the role of the young father; gains and losses with fatherhood, and solutions adopted during the experienced difficulties. It was evident that the exercise of fatherhood contributed to the assumption of masculinity, to play the role of guardian of the home and provider for the family.CONCLUSION:Fatherhood was seen as a positive experience that transformed teenagers into adults.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Process of instrument sterilization in shops with manicure and pedicure services(Escola Paulista de Enfermagem, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2014-01-01) Yoshida, Cecília Harumi; Oliveira, Rosane Aparecida De; Coelho, Patricia Granja; Fonseca, Fernando Luiz Affonso [UNIFESP]; Filipini, Rosangela; Faculdade de Medicina do ABC; Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Comercial; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)OBJECTIVE:Understanding the sterilization process of critical items used in commercial establishments that offer the services of manicures and pedicure to the public.METHODS:Cross-sectional study with 90 employees exercising the function of manicure and pedicure in commercial establishments. The research instrument was a questionnaire with open and closed questions about the knowledge and procedures related to disinfection and sterilization of instruments.RESULTS:The mean age was 33.8 years, 72 % had taken vocational courses and had professional experience of more than five years. The use of hot air oven was prevalent in 84.3 % of establishments and 65.7 % reported opening the oven during sterilization. The relation between the higher cost of the service and the use of autoclave was statistically significant (p < 0.001).CONCLUSION:The sterilization process of the instruments used in the studied commercial establishments that offer services of manicures and pedicure to the public have significant deficiencies related to cleaning and sterilization of instruments.

METHODS: A transversal study conducted in two rehabilitation services with patients after stroke. Information collected included sociodemographic data, the Medical Outcome Study Short-form 36 - item Health Survey, the Stroke Specific Quality of Life Scale, the Barthel Index and the Beck Depression Inventory. RESULTS: The sample consisted of 139 patients, with a mean age of 59.4 years; 59% were male. The general and specific quality of life scores were compromised. According to the Barthel Index, 49.6% of the patients presented moderate to severe dependency, and 49.7% had depressive symptoms according to the Beck Depression Index; there was no positive correlation between these data and general and specific quality of life. CONCLUSION: General and specific quality of life of patients in rehabilitation, after stroke, presented compromised domains.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Violência contra a mulher: limites e potencialidades da prática assistencial(Escola Paulista de Enfermagem, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2013-12-01) Silva, Ethel Bastos da; Padoin, Stella Maris de Mello; Vianna, Lucila Amaral Carneiro [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de Santa Maria; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)OBJECTIVE: Analyzing the limiting and potentializing situations during the assistance of the Family Health teams to women in situations of violence. METHODS: This is a participatory research carried out with 30 professionals from six Family Health teams. Data production was the result of eight workshop-meetings. The technique of thematic content was used for data analysis. RESULTS: User embracement is potentialized by qualified hearing and the elaboration of an assistance plan shared with users also respecting their decisions and their family context. It is limited by the understanding that women should report the violence to enable the proposition of an intervention. It is recommended to resume concepts and practices of gender as well as human and social rights to strengthen supportive actions. CONCLUSION: Home visits and the bonding between professionals and users are considered potentializers of user embracement and the limitation is the difficulty of obtaining the report of women who suffered violence and engage them in a care project.
