This is a study of ethnographic inspiration that, by analyzing the concrete situation of 12 babies identified in a host institution in the municipality of Piracicaba, from 2015 to 2017, sought to capture the relationships and interactions that occurred there, then, to highlight the plots they raise, bringing together the complexities and contradictions that exist, both in the reality of the institutionalization of babies and young children, and in the discourse that supports it. The main objective of the research was to investigate how the experience of child shelter re-signifies, in current terms, the social meaning of the word protection and, as a result of this, sought to unveil the sense of protection that permeates concrete experiences of institutionalization. For that, the main theoretical references were the authors Fúlvia Rosemberg, Erving Goffman, and Robert Castel. The senses of protection and care employed by the different actors in the research scenario were discussed and, in the current context, are structuring aspects of the care of young children, when removed from their biological parents. We sought to contribute to childhood studies, exploring the theme of resignification of child shelter as a social form of protection and care, and which express not only institutional aspects, but also a perspective to research the social construction of responsibility on children. The studied institution showed some possible ways when the concern with the child and his family becomes the focus of the practices and actions in the shelter. The research revealed that, in practice, little has been achieved in terms of working with families of origin, those in extreme conditions of social vulnerability. There is a complexity of its own only observable when observed "closely." Analyzing their occurrences, it is possible to deconstruct the idea of a naturalness that accompanies the representations of social structure as something natural and in a progressive march to assist everyone. It was concluded that the services available are precarious, with no investment by the government in new alternative care or abandonment prevention services methodologies.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosManipuladores De Alimentos Atuantes Em Um Abrigo Institucional: Discutindo O Processo De Educação Permanente(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2017-04-26) Silva, Angela Lima da [UNIFESP]; Batista, Sylvia Helena Souza da Silva [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Children's feeding practices include various factors such as food consumption, availability, cultural and media influences, but are mainly influenced by the knowledge, experiences and experiences of the mother and / or caregiver. In the case of children received by the State, these depend on the care of several people, who bring their cultural and educational influences throughout their lives into their professional practice, which often does not comply with appropriate feeding practices, and may have a negative impact on the Children's health. Based on this scenario, The aim of this study was to discuss the demands and expectations of professionals involved with infant feeding from an institutional sheltering service that serves children from 0 to 3 years old, in order for the education process. In this research, we chose a qualitative research, in the case study modality, having as food manipulating participants and social protection agents (caregivers) acting in an institutional reception service. The data were produced through a semi-structured interview and participant observation, analyzed according to the content analysis technique, thematic type, allowing the construction of four thematic nucleo, which revealed the profile of the professionals involved in infant feeding, as well as the knowledge and the conceptions brought from their professional practice, the understanding of their role in the development and growth of the children, the facilities, difficulties and limitations of the professional performance, and finally, showed how the training process occurs for them to work with infant feeding. Thus, the food practices and care of the adopted children in the daily life of the professionals studied are guided by the knowledge and conceptions based on sociocultural influences and the personal experience lived with motherhood, going against the current nutritional and food recommendations. It can be observed that caregivers have difficulty distinguishing their professional role as their mother, unlike the food manipulators, who perceive themselves as educators, acting actively in the formation of the eating habits. It was revealed the difficulty that the professionals have to see the potentialities of their work, as well as to identify that some activities are part of the caregiver assignment. The presence of menu was considered as potentiality and the absence of work material and extensive workload as a hindrance to professional performance. The training process of these professionals is based on the perspective of traditional teaching, with occasional actions outside the work environment, focused on the transmission of information and technical procedures, using traditional teaching methodologies. Thus, it was identified the need of the training process of these professionals to be constructed according to the particularities of the service, considering their knowledge and perceptions, enabling the critical reflection on professional practice and the autonomy of the subject in the construction of their knowledge and citizenship.

To compare vocal function, school performance, and vocal discomfort between sheltered and nonsheltered school children in Aracaju, Brazil.Methods. A controlled cross-sectional study was carried out on 7- to 10-year-old children who attended school regularly. Two groups of children were studied: the study group (SG), with children who lived in a shelter, and the control group (CG) containing children who lived with their families. We interviewed 44 children for the SG and 15 (34%) revealed vocal discomfort (SG = 15). Concomitantly, we interviewed 400 regular school children from the same geographical area and 45 (11.25%) were selected for the control group (CG). They were paired by sex and age with the sheltered children using a 3: 1 ratio. Both groups were interviewed about school performance and vocal discomfort and were evaluated using perceptual and acoustic measurements for the voice and larynx.Results. Children from both groups had started public school late. There were more individuals with vocal discomfort in the SG and individuals in this group also had a slower speech rate and inadequate pneumophonic coordination compared with the CG. the Dysphonia Severity Index (DSI) revealed mild-moderate deviation for both groups. Upper harmonics and palatal tonsil hypertrophy were higher in the CG, whereas laryngeal constriction was more common in the SG.Conclusion. All the SG children revealed mild-moderate deviance on the DSI, a higher level of vocal discomfort, a slow speech rate, inadequate pneumophonic coordination, and laryngeal constriction. the results here presented suggest that social conditions are important for voice behavior in children.
