Methods: The sensorial analysis was performed in 50 children (5 to 10 years old) and their respective parents attempted at the Growth Disorders Outpatient Clinic of the Escola Paulista de Medicina Federal University of São Paulo from June 2014 to November 2015. Data such as anthropometry, socioeconomic and nutritional status were also evaluated. The dietary supplement composition is based on five used regular ingredients: maize starch, water, egg white, gelatin and soy oil. All the recipe ingredients were quantified to create one standard and reproducible compound. The dietary supplement sensorial analysis was performed individually using two age adequate scales, one for children and other for adults. Each recipe had a dietary composition evaluated before the sensorial analysis. Results: One portion of the home homemade supplement (250 grams per day) provide 364.80 calories (47.65 grams from carbohydrate, 6.61 grams from protein and 16.24 grams from lipids). The estimate cost was that 6.55% of the minimum wage/month. The amount of energy was 42% higher than commercial ones. The children sensorial analysis indicated that 74% approved average score was 3.5 of 5 points). The adult sensorial analysis indicated that 92% approved the product (average score was 7 of 9 points). Conclusion: This particular homemade dietary supplement provides high energy, adequate nutritional composition, is very palatable and present low cost to prepare.
