    Research on Rocky Shores in Brazil: advances and contributions to International Fora

    In this chapter, we provide an overview of how rocky shore research in Brazil contributes to international fora. Here, we bring our perspectives on the advance of Brazil-based science on the theme and its impact on global discussions. Collaborating with international co-authors, we draw parallels with studies in other regions that, like Brazil, have begun to contribute to rocky shore discussions at a later stage. Particularly, this literature has expanded our knowledge beyond temperate regions in the northern hemisphere. We argue that, building upon the groundwork laid by pioneering marine scientists, Brazil-based rocky shore research has now established itself within the international community, making notable contributions to various discussions on coastal ecology. This is evident in the insights it provides into our remarkable biodiversity, ecological patterns and processes, and human pressures exerted upon these environments.
