This project tool presents seventeen directions distributed over five axles relevant for medical education. One of these is the Pedagogical Approach which focuses building and following-up methods to identify the teaching - learning process and evaluation. Is the pedagogical approach student - centered, or teacher - centered? Are tutorials present? The schools can then be classified as traditional, innovative or advanced.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Cenários de prática e a formação médica na assistência em saúde(Associação Brasileira de Educação Médica, 2009-01-01) Stella, Regina Celes de Rosa [UNIFESP]; Abdalla, Ively Guimarães [UNIFESP]; Lampert, Jadete Barbosa; Perim, Gianna Lepre; Aguilar-da-Silva, Rinaldo Henrique; Costa, Nilce Maria da Silva Campos; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Federal de Santa Maria; Universidade Estadual de Londrina; Ministério do Esporte Secretaria Nacional de Esporte Educacional; Faculdade de Medicina de Marília; Universidade Federal de GoiásThis paper presents and analyzes the results of the self-assessment performed by 28 Brazilian medical schools (BMES) participating in the project elaborated by the Commission of Evaluation of the Medical Schools of the Brazilian Association of Medical Education, with regard to the axis Sceneries of Practice, one of the five relevant axes in the education of the medical professional. This axis comprises three vectors: the setting for medical practice used by the school; learning, and the chance to live the spontaneous demands of health assistance in practice. As refers to the vector setting used for practice, 75% of the schools use mainly primary, secondary and tertiary care units of the health system, another 25% use predominantly the secondary care hospital and the outpatient unit of the proper institution. With regard to participation of the teaching body, 75% affirm providing extensive participation under the guidance of the professors in different practical settings and the rest provides selected and partially supervised activities. With regard to the vector Sceneries for Practice, 25% of the schools only offer practical training linked to the department and specialties/disciplines, one third offers practical training covering different programs and nearly half of the schools (43%) offer practical training throughout the course utilizing the services in all care levels in an integrated way. Not always the justifications and evidences corresponded to the situation of innovation or transformation of the curricula as perceived by the schools.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosInvestigar a contribuição da rede universitária de telemedicina no desenvolvimento de uma nova prática de saúde digital(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2013-11-27) Lopes, Paulo Roberto de Lima [UNIFESP]; Sigulem, Daniel Sigulem [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Background: The practice of digital health is the set of techniques, practices, attitudes, ways of thinking and new values that develop as result of the digital space growing. The project: Brazilian Telemedicine University Network (RUTE) seeks to promote changes in digital health practice, providing a telecommunications network and telemedicine equipment to school hospitals in Brazil, focused research activities, teaching and health assistance. Objective: To investigate the contribution of RUTE project on the development of a new digital health practice in the axes of education, healthcare and research. Method: This is qualitative and quantitative exploratory study, based on electronic survey with 55 semi-structured questions, applied to the coordinators of 72 operational telemedicine units on the RUTE. The analysis clarifies the status of units and establish a measure of performance on digital health practice within the project RUTE. Results: With a membership of 75 % of the units of RUTE, 204 insights was collected from units and were classified by qualitative analysis on 14 categories. Five analysis axes were measured comparatively in the quantitative performance of the RUTE: (i) health education, (ii) remote collaborative healthcare practices, (iii) in the multicenter study and research, development and innovation of telemedicine, (iv) school hospitals management and (v) the social impact. Operating units have primary focus on the use of education, followed by remote assistance and then to research. Conclusion: Based on the assumptions set out in the project proposed by the RNP – National Education and Research Network, the results of operating units RUTE indicate that the network has led to the development of a new digital health practice in university hospitals, mainly through teaching and research.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosPromoting Physical Activity Through Community-Wide Policies and Planning: Findings From Curitiba, Brazil(Human Kinetics Publ Inc, 2010-07-01) Reis, Rodrigo S.; Hallal, Pedro C.; Parra, Diana C.; Ribeiro, Isabela C.; Brownson, Ross C.; Pratt, Michael; Hoehner, Christine M.; Ramos, Luiz [UNIFESP]; Pontificia Univ Catolica Parana; Univ Fed Pelotas; Washington Univ; Ctr Dis Control & Prevent; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Background: Community programs have been suggested to be an important and promising strategy for physical activity (PA) promotion. Limited evidence is available regarding knowledge of and participation in these programs in Latin America. Objective: To describe participation in and knowledge of community PA programs and to explore associations with leisure-time PA in the city of Curitiba, Brazil. Methods: A cross sectional telephone survey was conducted among adults in Curitiba, Brazil (n = 2097). The International Physical Activity Questionnaire was used to determine levels of PA, and specific questions were used to evaluate the extent to which respondents knew about or participated in the programs conducted by the municipality. Logistic regression was used to assess the meeting of PA recommendations in leisure time based on program knowledge and participation. Results: Knowledge of PA programs was high (91.6%) and 5.6% of population participated in the programs. After adjusting for individual characteristics, exposure to Curitiba's PA community programs was associated with leisure-time PA (POR = 2.9, 95% CI = 2.9-3.0) and walking for leisure (POR = 2.4; 95% CI = 2.3-2.4). The associations were stronger among men than among women. Conclusions: Knowledge and participation in Curitiba's community PA programs were associated with meeting recommended levels of PA in leisure time.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosUsing Logic Models as Iterative Tools for Planning and Evaluating Physical Activity Promotion Programs in Curitiba, Brazil(Human Kinetics Publ Inc, 2010-07-01) Ribeiro, Isabela C.; Torres, Andrea; Parra, Diana C.; Reis, Rodrigo; Hoehner, Christine; Schmid, Thomas L.; Pratt, Michael; Ramos, Luiz R. [UNIFESP]; Simoes, Eduardo J.; Brownson, Ross C.; Ctr Dis Control & Prevent; Washington Univ; Pontific Catholic Univ Parana; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Background: The Guide for Useful Interventions for Activity in Brazil and Latin America (GUIA), a systematic review of community-based physical activity (PA) interventions in Latin American literature, selected the CuritibAtiva program for a comprehensive evaluation. We describe the process of developing logic models (LM) of PA community interventions from Curitiba, Brazil, and discuss influential factors. Methods: The year-long process included engaging stakeholders involved in the promotion of PA in Curitiba, working with stakeholders to describe the programs and their goals, and developing LMs for the 2 main secretaries promoting PA in the city. Results & Conclusions: As a result of stakeholder interviews and discussion and the development of the LMs, local officials are coordinating programming efforts and considering ways the programs can be more complementary. The process has prompted program managers to identify overlapping programs, refine program goals, and identify gaps in programming. It also helped to frame evaluation questions, identify data sources, describe realistic outcomes, and reinforce the importance of intersectoral alliances for public health impact. Developing LMs proved to be feasible in the Latin American context, therefore adaptable and useful for other PA promotion programs in the region.
