- ItemSomente MetadadadosAspectos de imagem dos sarcomas primários da mama: revisão da literatura e série de casos(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2016-12-21) Alves, Aldo Maurici Araujo [UNIFESP]; Mello, Giselle Guedes Netto de Mello [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Objective: To review the imaging aspects of primary breast sarcomas (PMS). Methods: a qualitative observational study through a series of case reports and literature revision. Cases of PMS were collected with histopathological confirmation And accessible imaging (mammography, ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging), From two university hospitals and a private service. The literature review was Performed through the search of indexed works in the MEDLINE database. Results: 10 cases were found within the selection criteria, and their respective Findings were presented and discussed together with the literature. Conclusion: there is significant overlap between the mammographic findings, And magnetic resonance imaging of mammary carcinomas and sarcomas. However, a rapidly growing circumscribed mass without calcifications in the Mammography, without axillary lymph node involvement, complex-appearing solid-cystic On ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging may suggest a PMS.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Associations between orbicularis oris thickness and skeletal and dental variables in mixed dentition(Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, 2012-12-01) Barbosa, Taís De Souza; Gavião, Maria Beatriz Duarte; Pupo, Luciana Silveira; Castelo, Paula Midori [UNIFESP]; Pereira, Luciano José; Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP); Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Federal de Lavras Departamento de Medicina VeterináriaAIM: To evaluate the association between orbicularis oris thickness and skeletal and dental variables in children with mixed dentition. MATERIAL AND METHOD: A convenience sample of 22 children, aged 7 to 12 years, with skeletal Class I and Class II malocclusion and subdivisions were selected. The upper and lower fascicles of the orbicularis oris thicknesses were measured using ultrasound (US) by one calibrated examiner, at rest and in the contracted state. Cephalometric radiograph measurements of the hard and soft tissues were calculated by one trained examiner. The results were analyzed by the Pearson and Spearman coefficients. RESULT: The upper and lower fascicles of the orbicularis oris in the contracted state showed a negative correlation with the distance between Ricketts' E-line and the labrale superius (E ┴ Ls). There were positive correlations between the lower face height and the distance between the AB plane and the labrale superius (AB-Ls) and between the ANB angle and the distance between E ┴ Ls and Ricketts' E-line and the labrale inferius (E ┴ Li). The lower-incisor distance from the N-Pg plane correlated positively with the distance between AB-Ls and the distance between the E ┴ Ls and E ┴ Li. Overbite and interincisal angle were negatively correlated with the distance between the pogonion and the soft tissue pogonion and the distance between E ┴ Li, respectively. CONCLUSION: Skeletal and dental variables were associated with upper and lower lip position and pogonion thickness, while the upper and lower fascicles of the orbicularis oris thicknesses in the contracted state were associated only with upper lip retrusion.

PATIENTS AND METHODS: 741 nodules of 407 patients. RESULTS: The cytology was benign (60,5%), indeterminate (23,3%), malignant (8,3%) or nondiagnostic (7,6%). The prevalence of cancer in indeterminate citology was 18,5% (16% in follicular lesions, 44% in suspicious). The diagnosis of malignancy was 17,2% (n = 70). The frequency of cancer in women (15,2%) was lower than in men (27,9%). There was an inverse relation between age and cancer risk. There was no statistical significance in the prevalence of cancer according to number, size of nodules or TSH levels. Hypoechogenicity and microcalcifications on ultrasound were risk factors. CONCLUSION: The risk of malignancy was higher in men, hypoechoic nodules, with microcalcifications and was inversely related to age. The TSH level was not an independent factor predictive of malignancy.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosCorrelaçao da espessura cortical renal ultrassonográfica com a taxa de filtração glomerular em pacientes com e sem doença renal crônica(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2016-12-21) Ribeiro, Bruno Juca [UNIFESP]; Shigueoka, David Carlos Shigueoka [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)summary Objectives: to determine whether the thickness of the cortical renal (EC) ultrasound Shows a good linear correlation with the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in With and without chronic kidney disease (CKD), as well as Sensitive, specific and accurate cutoff value to define the CKD through this Using the GFR as a reference. Methods: the study took place in two We performed renal ultrasonography in 45 non-CKD patients (GFR ? 60 ml / min) And we used data from 48 patients with CKD (GFR <60 ml / min) from a previous study Carried out by the same group, 4 years ago. The patients in this phase were screened from a Spontaneous demand. The renal morpho-structural parameters evaluated were Bipolar diameter (DBP), parenchyma (PE) thickness and EC. The GFR was calculated by Cockcroft Gault formula. The linear correlation coefficient (r) was calculated for To establish whether there was a relationship between the various renal measures and the GFR, A cut-off value was established to define DRC using EC. Results: The EC Mean in the left middle third of the non-CKD group was 0.96 ± 0.15 In the group with CKD, data obtained in the first phase of the study, this value was 0.68 ± 0.12 cm (maximum value: 1.14 cm / minimum value: 0.37 cm). Conclusion: We found a moderate positive correlation force between the GFR and the CE of the third Mean of the left kidney (r = 0.626, p <0.0001) in patients with and without CKD. The EC Presented sufficient accuracy and equated to the other parameters to define the CKD. The intersection of EC and DBL + PE increased sensitivity and specificity in Detection of DRC.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Equívocos diagnósticos envolvendo as tendinites: impacto médico, social, jurídico e econômico(Sociedade Brasileira de Reumatologia, 2009-12-01) Siena, Cesar; Helfenstein Junior, Milton [UNIFESP]; Justiça Federal da 3ª região; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Evidence of the clinical, social, and economic impact of mistaken diagnoses of tendonitis and other chronic painful disorders are analyzed. The objective of this review is to call attention to the possible diagnostic hyper valuation of tendonitis, especially those supposedly multiple or refractory, based on evidence. A review of the literature on chronic painful disorders, such as fibromyalgia, in the context of mistaken diagnosis of tendonitis, as well a review of false positive and ultrasonographic (US) scan diagnostic parameters, is presented. Evidence of therapeutic mistakes were found in 41% and diagnostic mistakes in 70 to 85% of the cases, with proven unpreparedness regarding those disorders in up to 93.7% of the physicians. The diverse repercussions of this epidemic of mistakes are discussed.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosEstudo comparativo de três biômetros ópticos(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2016-01-27) Lopes, Yara Cristina [UNIFESP]; Allemann, Norma [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Objective: To compare the performance of three optical biometers, IOLMaster (gold standard), Lenstar and AL-Scan, with emphasis on diseases commonly encountered in clinical practice. Methods: Measurements were performed in 95 eyes, 95 patients, aged between 4 and 90 years using the optical biometers: IOLMaster, Lenstar and AL-Scan, referred from different services from the Department of Ophthalmology at UNIFESP, maintaining in the group the most commonly disorders found in clinical practice. Results: Five parameters were compared in eyes with ocular pathologies: axial length, keratometric values, anterior chamber depth, corneal thickness, and white-to-white distance. Bland-Altman analysis of concordance demonstrated agreement between measurements obtained by IOL Master and Lenstar for axial length; and between IOL Master and AL-Scan for axial length and keratometry. The comparison of the measurements of the other parameters obtained with Lenstar and AL-Scan with gold standard IOLMaster showed significant bias. Comparing Lenstar and AL-Scan, the bias was significant only for the white-to-white distance, and measurements showed agreement for the other parameters,. Conclusions: We can conclude that the axial length measurements undertaken by Lenstar equipment can replace the ones carried out by IOLMaster; and axial length and keratometry measurements performed by AL-Scan can replace those supplied by IOLMaster. This conclusion was based only on statistical and non-clinical criteria, and one should take into account that cases with pathologies were included in this sample.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Pelvic Floor 3D Ultrasound of Women with a TVT, TVT-O, or TVT-S for Stress Urinary Incontinence at the Three-year Follow-up(Federacao Brasileira Soc Ginecologia & Obstetricia-Febrasgo, 2017) Rodrigues, Claudinei A. [UNIFESP]; Bianchi-Ferraro, Ana Maria H. M. [UNIFESP]; Monteiro Zucchi, Eliana Viana [UNIFESP]; Sartori, Marair G. F. [UNIFESP]; Girao, Manoel J. B. C. [UNIFESP]; Jarmy-Di Bella, Zsuzsanna I. K. [UNIFESP]Objective Using three-dimensional ultrasound (3D-US), we aimed to compare the tape position and the angle formed by the sling arms in different techniques of mid-urethral sling insertion for the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence, three years after surgery. In addition, we examined the correlations between the US findings and the clinical late postoperative results. Methods A prospective cross-sectional cohort study of 170 patients who underwent a sling procedure between May 2009 and December 2011 was performed. The final sample, with US images of sufficient quality, included 26 retropubic slings (tension-free vaginal tape, TVT), 42 transobturator slings (tension-free vaginal tape-obturator, TVT-O), and 37 single-incision slings (tension-free vaginal tape-Secur, TVT-S). The images (at rest, during the Valsalva maneuver, and during pelvic floor contraction) were analyzed offline by 2 different observers blinded against the surgical and urinary continence status. Group comparisons were performed using the Student t-test, the chi-squared and the Kruskal-Wallis tests, and analyses of variance with Tukey multiple comparisons. Results Differences among the groups were found in the mean angle of the tape arms (TVT = 119.94 degrees, TVT-O = 141.93 degrees, TVT-S = 121.06 degrees p < 0.001) and in the distance between the bladder neck and the tape at rest (TVT = 1.65 cm, TVT-O = 1.93 cm, TVT-S = 1.95 cm p = 0.010). The global objective cure rate was of 87.8% (TVT = 88.5%, TVT-O = 90.5%, TVT-S = 83.8% p = 0.701). The overall subjective cure rate was of 83.8% (TVT = 88.5%, TVT-O = 88.5% and TVT-S = 78.4% p = 0.514). The slings were located in the mid-urethra in 85.7% of the patients (TVT = 100%, TVT-O = 73.8%, TVT-S = 89.2% p = 0.001), with a more distal location associated with obesity (distal: 66.7% obese mid-urethra: 34% obese p = 0.003). Urgency-related symptoms were observed in 23.8% of the patients (TVT = 30.8%, TVT-O = 21.4%, TVT-S = 21.6% p = 0.630). Conclusions The angle formed by the arms of the sling tape was more obtuse for the transobturator slings compared with the angles for the retropubic or single-incision slings. Retropubic slings were more frequently located in the mid-urethra compared with the other slings, regardless of obesity. However, the analyzed sonographic measures did not correlate with the urinary symptoms three years after the surgery.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Relação entre a biometria ultrassonográfica ocular e os parâmetros morfométricos do crânio, idade, peso e gênero em gatos domésticos(Colégio Brasileiro de Patologia Animal - CBPAEmpresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (EMBRAPA), 2014-02-01) Ferreira, Marco Antonio; Allemann, Norma [UNIFESP]; Dias, Luís Gustavo Gosuen Gonçalves; Honsho, Cristiane dos Santos; Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Agrárias de Itapeva; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade de FrancaOcular ultrasonography is a helpful ophthalmic examination, performed on the absence of transparency in ocular means and frequently requested prior intraocular surgery. Unfortunately, the lack of studies upon ultrasonografic images of the normal feline eye, difficults the evaluation of its biometry and its inner structures in many ophthalmic diseases and also before surgery. The objective of this study was to evaluate the ocular biometry and the morphometric parameters of the cranium of 40 healthy adult cats, including 22 Persian cats (Brachycephalic group - BG) and 18 Mixed-breed cats (Noun brachycephalic group - NBG). B/A-mode ultrasonographic biometry, utilizing a 9 MHz probe, was performed for depth of the anterior chamber (D1), lens axial length (D2), depth of the vitreous chamber (D3) and axial length of the globe (D4). Morphometric parameters of the cranium were obtained for bizygomatic (BZ) and occipital frontal (OF) diameters. Data was collected and statistical analysis, including t paired tests, variance and covariance analysis and multiple linear regressions was performed for every obtained measure and also for animal ages, weigh and gender. Statistic relevant values were observed in D4 parameter for female cats of BG. Multiple linear regression indicated some influence of the weigh, age and OF in D1, D2 and D4 of PG; and of BZ in D1, D3 and D4 of NBG. Besides that, it was observed that biometry was also influenced by weigh, age and morphometric parameters of their craniums in both groups.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosTratamento das lesões musculares agudas da coxa com ou sem punção do hematoma em atletas(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2016-10-26) Sales, Rodrigo Moreira [UNIFESP]; Pochini, Alberto de Castro Pochini [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Objectives: compare athletes mean time to return to sport after an acute thigh muscle injury in which a hematoma was present and was punctured or not. Methods: interventional, controlled and non-randomized clinical study with 20 amateurs and professionals athletes with acute muscle injury divided into thigh partial moderate lesions or thigh (sub)total lesions, according to Munich Consensus Statement. Nine athletes were included in the intervention group and 11 athletes in the control group. In the intervention group, the athletes underwent puncture of the hematoma associated with physical therapy and the control group underwent physical therapy. The data were tabulated in a spreadsheet (Excel template). The time to return to sport variable was analyzed by GraphPad Prism 6 via Mann-Whitney test and 95% (p<0.05) was used as a significance level. Results: the study population was composed mostly of men, eight of whom were young practitioners of sports in amateur level. There were three women, two of whom were amateur. The mean age of participants was 34.70 ± 12.79 years, and ranged from 18 to 68 years in males and 39 to 48 years in females. There were 13 patients with posterior thigh lesions, five with anterior lesions and two with adductor lesions. The mean time to return to sport considering all injuries was 48,50 ± 27,50 days in the intervention group. In the control group, this period was 102.09 ± 52.02 days revealing a significant difference between groups with p= 0.022. Conclusion: The hematoma muscle puncture is a possible alternative to address acute muscle injuries and it showed to be safe and effective to shorten time to return to sport in athletes with moderate partial muscle injuries or (sub) totals muscle injuries associated with hematomas
