This research consists of a comparative analysis of the female voices of Macabéa and Carolina, protagonists of the respective works A Hora da Estrela (1977), by Clarice Lispector, and Quarto de Despejo (1960), by Carolina Maria de Jesus. The objective is to analyze the construction of the characters in relation to the dichotomy of presence and absence of voice. In this way, the comparison is made based on a perception of how two marginalized protagonists can be constructed through distinct communication, but which reflects the (similar) social issues they face. To carry out the research, a path was drawn to analyze the narrative constructions of both works, through the concepts of autofiction, focusing on the studies of Doubrovsky (1977) and Colonna (1989), and autobiography, mainly based on the theory of the autobiographical pact, published by Phillippe Lejeune (2008). Furthermore, it was also necessary to understand the topics that involve the conception of the subject through language, as well as the composition of discursive genres, as proposed by Bakhtin and Voloshinov in the Bahktin Circle (1981). Thus, based on basic literary theories, a pertinent analysis of the narrative, voice and subjectivity of the protagonists was carried out to understand the construction of a social profile through the language used by the characters and, therefore, how they are related.
