Resumo
O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) da empresa
Vale S.A. em face do dano ambiental causado pelo rompimento da Barragem (B1) da mina
Córrego do Feijão, a fim de compreender se esta ferramenta se tornou mais eficaz nos dias
atuais. Para tanto, foi necessário abordar o cenário estrutural e comercial da cidade de
Brumadinho, sua relação com a atividade minerária e a formação das barragens; contextualizar
o desastre e os requisitos legais que levaram ao ocorrido; explanar sobre o conceito de dano e
seguro ambiental e o ESG da empresa Vale S.A. Foi importante para a pesquisa trazer também
a relação da empresa com os stakeholders e a Governança Corporativa. Por fim, apresentaram-se as intervenções positivas que a empresa tem adotado para o gerenciamento de riscos. A
metodologia utilizada foi a qualitativa e explicativa, analisando o levantamento dos dados e
privilegiando os microprocessos. Também a metodologia de caráter bibliográfico e não
obstante, o método indutivo. Como considerações finais, entende-se que a Vale S.A. tem
concentrado esforços para tornar o ESG mais eficiente e para buscar soluções robustas a fim de
gerenciar e mitigar seus riscos.
The objective of this paper is to analyze the ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) of the company Vale S.A. in light of the environmental damage caused by the collapse of the dam (B1) of the Córrego do Feijão mine, in order to understand whether this tool has become more effective today. For this purpose, it was necessary to approach the structural and commercial scenario of the city of Brumadinho, its relationship with mining activity and the formation of dams; to contextualize the disaster and the legal requirements that led to the occurrence; to explain the concept of environmental damage and insurance and the ESG of the Vale S.A. company. It was important for the research to also bring up the company's relationship with stakeholders and Corporate Governance. Finally, the positive interventions that the company has adopted for risk management were presented. The methodology used was qualitative and explanatory, analyzing the data survey and privileging the micro processes. Also the methodology of bibliographical character and notwithstanding, the inductive method. As final considerations, it is understood that Vale S.A. has concentrated efforts to make the ESG more efficient and to seek robust solutions in order to manage and mitigate its risks.
