- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Adaptação cultural e análise da confiabilidade da versão brasileira da Escala de Equilíbrio Pediátrica (EEP)(Associação Brasileira de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Fisioterapia, 2012-06-01) Ries, Lílian Gerdi Kittel; Michaelsen, Stella Maris; Soares, Patrícia S. A. [UNIFESP]; Monteiro, Vanessa Costa [UNIFESP]; Allegretti, Kátia Maria Gonçalves [UNIFESP]; Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina Postgraduate Program in Physical Therapy; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)BACKGROUND: The Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) was developed from a modified version of the Berg Balance Scale aiming to obtain a balance scale more appropriate for the child population. OBJECTIVES: To adapt the PBS into Brazilian-Portuguese and to evaluate the intra and inter-rater reliability of the Brazilian-Portuguese version of PBS. METHODS: To perform the cross-cultural adaptation of the American version of PBS four translators were involved, who have performed two translations and their respective back-translations. Then, a review by a multidisciplinary committee and a subsequent an assessment of the equivalence of meaning between the back-translations and the original English scale were performed by 3 and 30 healthcare professionals respectively. The intra-rater reliability of the final version of the Brazilian-Portuguese PBS was evaluated using a test-retest design with one-week interval. The Brazilian-Portuguese version of the PBS was tested twice on the same day by two different raters to test the inter-rater reliability. The inter-rater reliability, which was measured from a video of the volunteers performance, was evaluated by comparing the score given by five raters independently. Reliability was evaluated by Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Fifteen volunteers (11±2.7 years) diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP) classified at level I and II on the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) were assessed. RESULTS: The reliability of the PBS total score for both intra-rater (ICC=0.85) and inter-rater (ICC=0.91) was excellent. The inter-rater reliability (measured from the video) for the total score was also classified as excellent (ICC=0.98). CONCLUSION: The results showed adequate reliability for the PBS for pediatric population with CP diagnostic classified at level I and II on the GMFCS.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Adaptação cultural, validade e confiabilidade da versão brasileira do Inventário de Habilidades de Vida Independente: versão do paciente (ILSS-BR/P), na esquizofrenia(Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, 2012-01-01) Martini, Larissa Campagna [UNIFESP]; Attux, Cecília [UNIFESP]; Bressan, Rodrigo Affonseca [UNIFESP]; Mari, Jair de Jesus [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)BACKGROUND: There is a strong association between good psychosocial functioning and the ability to carry out everyday tasks in patients with schizophrenia. Valid instruments become increasingly necessary to evaluate the performance of these patients in independent living activities. OBJECTIVE: To adapt and assess the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Independent Living Skills Survey (ILSS-BR/P) in patients with schizophrenia. METHODS: Reliability was assessed with test-retest, interrater and internal consistency. Furthermore, construct, discriminant and concurrent validity were assessed. RESULTS: Fifty patients were included in the interrater study, with an agreement of 64.4% between responses and an Intraclass Correlation (ICC) ranged from 0.80-0.99. Forty-six patients participated in the test-retest, with an ICC ranged from 0.84-0.94 and an agreement of 44.3%. The internal consistency was good (0.23-0.98). Hundred and sixty patients participated in the validation. Regarding to the discriminant validity, female patients presented a higher performance in the overall score and five subscales compared with men. The concurrent validity confirmed the specificity of the dimensions of the scale, comparing the ILSS with the PANSS, Calgary, CGI, GAF, WHOQOL and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem. DISCUSSION: The ILSS-BR/P is a valid and reliable research instrument to assess social functioning in patients with schizophrenia.

[UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade de São Paulo (USP); Escola Ultra Sonog & Reciclagem Med Ribeirao Pret; Inst Nacl Ciencia & Tecnol INCT Hormonios & SaudeObjective: To assess the fetal lumbosacral spine by three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography using volume contrast imaging (VCI) omni view method and compare reproducibility and agreement between three different measurement techniques: standard mouse, high definition mouse and pen-tablet. Methods: A comparative and prospective study with 40 pregnant women between 20 and 34+6 weeks was realized. 3D volume datasets of the fetal spine were acquired using a convex transabdominal transducer. Starting scan plane was the coronal section of fetal lumbosacral spine by VCI-C function. Omni view manual trace was selected and a parallel plane of fetal spine was drawn including interest region. Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used for reproducibility analysis. the relative difference between three used techniques was compared by chi-square test and Fischer test. Results: Pen-tablet showed better reliability (ICC = 0.987). in the relative proportion of differences, this was significantly higher for the pen-tablet (82.14%; p < 0.01). in paired comparison, the relative difference was significantly greater for the pen-tablet (p < 0.01). Conclusion: the pen-tablet showed to be the most reproductive and concordant method in the measurement of body vertebral area of fetal lumbosacral spine by 3D ultrasonography using the VCI.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosThe long-term stability of portable spirometers used in a multinational study of the prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(Daedalus Enterprises Inc, 2006-10-01) Pérez-Padilla, Rogelio; Vazquez-Garcia, Juan Carlos; Marquez, Maria Nelly; Jardim, José Roberto de Brito [UNIFESP]; Pertuze, Julio; Lisboa, Carmen; Muino, Adriana; Lopez, Maria Victorina; Talamo, Carlos; Montes de Oca, Maria; Valdivia, Gonzalo; Menezes, Ana Maria Baptista [UNIFESP]; PLATINO Team; Inst Nacl Enfermedades Resp; Univ Republica; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Pontificia Univ Catolica Chile; Univ Cent Venezuela; Univ Fed PelotasBACKGROUND: We report the performance of an ultrasound-based portable spirometer (EasyOne) used in a population-based survey of the prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, conducted in 5 Latin American cities: Sao Paulo, Brazil; Mexico City, Mexico; Montevideo, Uruguay; Santiago, Chile; and Caracas, Venezuela (the Latin American COPD Prevalence Study [PLATINO]). METHODS: During the survey period (which ranged from 3 months to 6 months in the various locations) we collected daily calibration data from the 70 EasyOne spirometers used in the 5 survey cities. The calibrations were conducted with a 3-L syringe, and the calibration data were stored in the spirometer's database. RESULTS: Ninety-seven percent of the calibration volumes were within +/- 64 mL (2.1%) of the 3-L calibration signal. Excluding data from the first city studied (Sao Paulo), where one calibration syringe had to be replaced, 98% of the calibration checks were within +/- 50 mL (1.7%). The measured volume was affected only minimally by the syringe's peak flow or emptying time. CONCLUSION: In these 70 EasyOne spirometers neither calibration nor linearity changed during the study. Such calibration stability is a valuable feature in spirometry surveys and in the clinical setting.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Personal Experience Screening Questionnaire(Assoc Medica Brasileira, 2016) Fidalgo, Thiago Marques [UNIFESP]; Silveira, Evelyn Doering da [UNIFESP]; Winters, Ken C.; Silveira, Dartiu Xavier da [UNIFESP]Introduction: The Personal Experience Screening Questionnaire (PESQ) is an instrument devised for assessing the magnitude of drug misuse among adolescents. However, its psychometric properties have not been evaluated in adolescent samples outside the United States. Objective: To assess the internal reliability and validity of the Brazilian version of the PESQ. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 84 adolescents from a clinical sample and a community-based sample. All of them answered the PESQ. Results: Among adolescents from the community, the PESQ problem severity index, which can vary from 18 to 72, was 26.48 +/- 9.28, whereas the clinical sample scored 42.89 +/- 10.02 (p<0.001). Cronbach's alpha was 0.91. Factor analysis resulted in a four-factor solution. Furthermore, both samples also had different mean scores for the other distinct content areas measured by the instrument. Conclusion: Evidence to support the reliability and validity of the Brazilian version of the Personal Experience Questionnaire was found.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosTradução e adaptação cultural da escala de qualidade de vida no AVE “SIS” Stroke Impact Scale 20(Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), 2015-06-30) Brandao, Aline Dias [UNIFESP]; Gazzotti, Mariana Rodrigues Gazzotti [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)Introduction: There are today few specific scale to measure the quality of life of Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) patients; and none of these questionnaires have been translated into the Portuguese language or had their reliability assessed. The Stroke Impact Scale (SIS) is available in the international literature as a tool to analyze the overall impact of light and moderate CVA on the patients? daily living. Objective: Translate the SIS ? Stroke Impact Scale 2.0 into the Portuguese language (Brazilian Portuguese), carry out cross-cultural adaptation and assess its reliability. Correlate SIS 2.0 with the SF-36 and with HADS (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale) in CVA patients. Methods: The process of translation and back-translation was carried out, along with adaptation to the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture. In order to assess the reliability of the scale, it was applied on 40 CVA patients from the Neurovascular outpatient clinic, who answered the questions for three times. On the first day, the scale was applied twice by two independent researchers (interobserver reproducibility); and after 15 days the scale was applied or the third time by researcher 1 (intraobserver reproducibility). The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to test the reliability of the SIS 2.0 scale. Results: The reliability of the scale was very good (ICC: 0.73 to 0.99). The intraobserver reliability was also very good for all domains (ICC = 0.85 to 0.95). Correlating SIS 2.0 with SF-36, for the domains strength, mobility; ADL and functional capacity, and ADL correlated with general health conditions, the correlations were moderate. For all other domains the correlations were weak. Moderate negative correlation was observed between depression and the domains memory and communication. Conclusion: The version of SIS 2.0 translated into Portuguese and adapted to the Brazilian culture proved to be patient-friendly and presented good reliability to be used with patients diagnosed with CVA.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosTranslation and cultural adaptation of Health Utilities Index (HUI) Mark 2 (HUI2) and Mark 3 (HUI3) with application to survivors of childhood cancer in Brazil(Springer, 2005-06-01) Shimoda, S.; Camargo, B. de; Horsman, J.; Furlong, W.; Lopes, L. F.; Seber, A.; Barr, R. D.; McMaster Univ; Ctr Tratamento & Pesquisa Hosp Canc; Hlth Utilities Inc; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); McMaster Childrens HospIntroduction: There are few publications reporting health-related quality of life (HRQL) in developing nations. Most instruments measuring HRQL have been developed in English-speaking countries. These instruments need to be culturally adapted for use in non-English-speaking countries. the HUI2 and HUI3 are generic, preference-based systems for describing health status and HRQL. Developed in Canada, the systems have been translated into more than a dozen languages and used worldwide in hundreds of studies of clinical and general populations. Methods: the Brazilian - Portuguese translation of the HUI systems was supervised by senior HUInc staff having experience with both the HUI systems and translations. the process included two independent forward translations of the multi-attribute health status classification systems and related questionnaires, consensus between translators on a forward translation, back-translation by two independent translators of the forward translation, and review of the back-translations by original developers of the HUI. the final questionnaires were tested by surveying a sample of convenience of 50 patients recruited at the Centro de Tratamento e Pesquisa - Hospital do Cancer in São Paulo, Brazil. Results: Fifty patients were enrolled in the study. No assessor, patient or nurse or physician, reported problems answering the HUI questionnaires. No significant differences were found in mean overall HUI2 or HUI3 utility scores among types of assessors. Variability in scores are similar to those from other studies in Latin America and Canada. Conclusion: Test results provide preliminary evidence that the Brazilian Portuguese translation is acceptable, understandable, reliable and valid for assessing health-status and HRQL among survivors of cancer in childhood in Brazil.
- ItemSomente MetadadadosValidation of the Brazilian version of the quality of life scale for patients with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers (QOL-AD)(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2010-01-01) Novelli, Marcia Maria Pires Camargo [UNIFESP]; Nitrini, Ricardo; Caramelli, Paulo; Universidade de São Paulo (USP); Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP); Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)Quality of life (QOL) has been extensively studied in clinical trials and in research on chronic degenerative diseases and dementia. the aim of this study was to assess the reliability and construct validity of the Brazilian version of the QOL scale in Alzheimer's disease (AD; QOL-AD). the QOL-AD was administered to 60 patients with mild or moderate AD and to their caregivers. the construct validation was accomplished through correlations amongst total scores of patients' and caregivers' reports on patients' quality of life (PQOL and C-PQOL, respectively), and data related to cognitive impairment, depressive symptoms, functional performance, behavioral disturbances and a generic instrument of quality of life (WHOQOL-brief), as well as correlation of total score of caregivers' reports on their own quality of life (CQOL) with the measurements cited above, QOL-AD patient reports, and depressive symptoms. the reliability was high for PQOL, C-PQOL, and CQOL versions (Cronbach's alpha = 0.80, 0.83, and 0.86, respectively). We observed significant correlations in the construct validity of all three versions regarding the variables associated with the disease and also with WHOQOL-brief. the scale took, on average, six min for each version. the results indicate reliability and construct validity of the Brazilian version of the QOL-AD in the studied sample.
- ItemAcesso aberto (Open Access)Versão brasileira do Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ) de Michael Bond: problemas e soluções(Sociedade de Psiquiatria do Rio Grande do Sul, 2006-08-01) Andrade, Mônica; Shirakawa, Itiro [UNIFESP]; Universidade Federal de Uberlândia Departamento de Clínica Médica; Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP)The Defense Style Questionnaire (DSQ) is an instrument designed to measure conscious derivatives of ego defense mechanisms. It was developed and validated by Michael Bond in 1983 in Canada. This study presents a translation and adaptation of the DSQ into Portuguese, as well as an evaluation of the statistical reliability of the Portuguese version compared to its original form. METHODS: The translation was carried out by a group of psychiatrists, psychologists and English teachers, using the back-translation technique. The reliability study was administered to a sample of 51 bilingual respondents (English/Portuguese), who performed the tests in both versions (original and translated). Statistical analysis of internal consistency and item by item and subject by subject correlations, as well as mean score between the two versions (original and translated) have demonstrated that both forms are equivalent; therefore, the translation into Portuguese is accurate. Agreement rate and unanswered items were also evaluated. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: All results were quite satisfactory and statistically significant, which leads to the conclusion that the translated instrument is adequate for application in Brazil.
