Although the quarantine is an important strategy to stop the fast spread of the virus, isolating for a long period can cause psychological impact on those who are taking part on it. Beginning a quarantine period implies on radical changes in the population's lifestyle, which may affect both people’s mental and physical health. Objective: To investigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic restriction measures on physical and mental health in adult women. Materials and Method: For data collection, nine women participated in the study, all of them were over 18 years old and hold a graduate degree. The participants were interviewed following a half-structured script, previously determined, which aimed to gather a in depth view of their thoughts. The interviews were audio-recorded and these recordings were later transcribed for analysis though the content analysis. Results: The analysis of the interviews resulted in four categories: 1) Intensified sensations, emotions and reactions; 2) Change of work routine: home office; 3) Intensifying relationships and 4) Dealing with the pandemic. These categories show the main effects of the pandemic on the physical and mental health of these women, such as the fear of being infected, anxiety crisis as a result of feeling insecure and non-protected, increase on the stress levels in their family, feelings of sadness and helplessness, and trouble in changing their routine. Conclusion: The interview with the participants demonstrated that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic transcends the epidemiological and biomedical aspects of the health sector. These effects permeate different aspects of our society, revealing the importance of qualified listening as a tool to expand knowledge in this area.
